The Smith & Wesson Victory Model was a prominent six-shot, double-action military revolver produced from 1942 to 1945 to support the Allied war effort during World War II. Derived from the pre-war S&W Military & Police (M&P) model, it earned its famous name for wartime issue as part of Lend Lease. Over 900,000 of these rugged handguns were manufactured during the conflict, serving across every major theatre of operations.

Wartime production required S&W to abandon its high-polish commercial finishes in favour of rapid, utilitarian manufacturing:
Coated in a dull gray, non-reflective sandblasted Parkerized or "midnight black" finish this gun is midnight black.
Fitted with plain, uncheckered, smooth walnut stocks instead of standard commercial checkered grips. Equipped with a distinct lanyard loop (swivel ring) attached directly to the bottom of the pistol butt.

Covert Operations: The Office of Strategic Services (OSS) procured thousands of Victory models, dropping them behind enemy lines to supply active resistance fighters in occupied territories.

Marine Corps aircrews, famously carried by pilots in shoulder holsters. Future US President George H.W. Bush carried a Victory Model during his service as a Navy pilot.
